Humanly Forward / By Mike DeHart

A bigger future.
A human one.

A future shaped by people. Expanded by AI. Let’s build toward greater security, meaningful work, and new frontiers—with human needs and ambition guiding progress.

01 / The vision

Give people more possibility.
Give progress a purpose.

Greater technological capability creates choices. My conviction is that we should deliberately use those choices to strengthen people’s lives, expand their agency, and make ambitious human endeavors possible.

01 — SECURITY

Build a stronger foundation.

Start with achievable improvements: accessible healthcare, reliable food assistance, and support through economic disruption. Explore how the gains from AI can help fund a stronger social safety net.

02 — AGENCY

Keep people in the driver’s seat.

Build AI that supports human judgment and execution. People should retain meaningful authority over goals, consequential decisions, and the institutions that shape their lives.

03 — AMBITION

Create the next frontier.

Actively pursue new industries and valuable human roles. Put AI to work advancing medicine, exploring the oceans and space, and helping people build things they could never have built before.

02 / About Mike

From building AI experiences
to shaping what comes next.

I’m Mike DeHart, a director of product focused on AI product experiences and business transformation. My work puts me close to how organizations use this technology—and the choices that shape its impact on people.

I’m interested in connecting practical experience with a more deliberate vision for progress. That means bringing builders, researchers, and policy thinkers together around human capability, economic security, and meaningful opportunity.

I’m looking for collaborators who want to turn those principles into working examples, institutional commitments, and better public conversations.

03 / Perspectives

Ideas worth building on.

Foundational notes from my emerging point of view at Humanly Forward. This space will grow with essays, conversations, videos, and examples of people building toward a human-centered future.

Foundational note

Start with economic security.

We don’t need to wait for a hypothetical age of perfect automation to define useful goals. We can begin with people’s immediate needs: healthcare, food, and the ability to weather a lost job without losing everything.

The practical question is how productivity gains become broadly shared improvements in people’s lives. Taxation, public investment, and stronger safety nets deserve serious attention alongside the technology itself. The details require evidence and debate; the commitment to economic security can start now.

Foundational note

Human authority has to be real.

AI may become capable of planning, coordinating, and making increasingly complex decisions. Capability alone does not settle which decisions we should delegate.

A human-centered system should give people enough understanding, time, and authority to shape outcomes. Someone approving a recommendation without a meaningful ability to question or change it is a weak version of control. I want to explore designs that make people’s authority substantive and accountable.

Foundational note

Make new opportunity an explicit goal.

New industries and roles should be something we actively work to create. We can ask which previously impossible services become feasible, which kinds of expertise more people can develop, and which scientific frontiers become reachable.

That does not mean preserving every existing task or making people earn their dignity through paid employment. It means giving people real opportunities to contribute, learn, build, and help determine what happens next.

Let’s connect

Help shape the conversation.

I’m interested in research, collaborations, and speaking conversations about AI that expands human potential. If you’re working toward this future, I’d like to learn what you’re building.
